The Universal Banking role supports a long-term growth initiative within an international retail and wealth banking business in India. This position contributes directly to branch-level expansion plans and focuses on delivering consistent, high-quality service to customers. The role is customer-facing and involves handling walk-in interactions, understanding customer needs, and providing appropriate banking solutions while ensuring smooth front-office and teller operations.
The position emphasizes moving beyond routine transactions to a more consultative, need-based approach, aligned with fair customer treatment standards and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities :
Deliver seamless branch-level customer service while maintaining high operational standards.
Engage with customers using a needs-based approach, ensuring fair treatment and suitable product guidance.
Support front-office and teller activities to ensure efficient daily branch operations.
Maintain a professional branch environment, including the upkeep of customer areas, displays, and self-service zones.
Address customer concerns, complaints, and escalations promptly to ensure positive outcomes.
Encourage customers to adopt alternative and digital banking channels through courteous guidance.
Comply with internal processes, regulatory requirements, and audit recommendations.
Contribute to business targets by acquiring new customers and supporting sales of relevant banking products, including cards and insurance offerings.
Identify referral and cross-selling opportunities in line with defined performance metrics.
Education & Experience :
Graduate in any discipline
1 to 2 years of relevant experience in banking or financial services
Knowledge & Competencies :
Strong understanding of branch operations and end-to-end banking processes.
Clear awareness of customer service standards and service quality expectations.
Up-to-date knowledge of banking products, systems, and operational workflows.
Ability to build trust-based relationships with customers and colleagues.
Customer-centric mindset with a focus on delivering consistent service excellence.
Working knowledge of AML requirements and compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
Capability to manage customer needs effectively and ensure satisfaction across interactions.
Preferred Certifications :
Industry certifications related to foreign exchange, demat services, and insurance are desirable.
Required certifications should be completed or aligned within 3–6 months of joining, as per internal guidelines.
